Happy 1st Birthday Kanyon!

What a good day this was....yeah I know it was raining and dreary outside, but I got to see my little "grand-friend" Kanyon Phillips! This past Wednesday was his very first birthday. (If you ever want to see for yourself what the power of prayers will do...go to his blogspot and read about his incredible journey!) He just had eye surgery less than 2 weeks ago too! His family is one of the most loving group of Christians that you will ever meet. Thanks to the Phillips/Spencer families for sharing ALL of their babies with all of us.

This was not a good picture of Kanyon, but he'd been just about as good as any little 1 year old can possibly be for one day! (Notice that look on his sweet look on his Granny Gay's face!) Sorry 'bout this one Kanyon...I'll take a better one next visit!

Speaking of the Spencer family....here's Miss Roselyn with her Mommy, Rachel. Aren't they 2 of the prettiest you've seen? That Roselyn has the most beautiful curly hair...but look at those sleepy eyes. Sooooooooo precious!

My little "grand-friend" Ridge was in rare form this morning at church! He was singing, smiling from ear to ear, helping Keith lead the singing, and then telling everyone "bye-bye" during the closing prayer! (Although I think it's his way of saying AMEN!) Here's a picture of him and his sweet Mommy (Amy) on their way home today!

At lunch today, Payden was thinking that the "buzzer" at Chili's was his Mommy's cellphone. He was so sleepy at lunch, he would just lay his head on the table to "rest"! He's only 19 months old, but you should see that little boy dip his food into the honey mustard! Too funny!

I WAS TAGGED...

Lindsay tagged me....I haven't played tag in so long....and I think playing virtual tag is not as taxing on my body as the old "timey" kind of tag was! teehee. She says I have to list 10 things about myself, so here goes:

  1. I have the most wonderful 27 year old son. He's very kind and thoughtful to me and has no idea how much I miss him!

  2. I am a bank teller at First Federal Community Bank, on the Loop, the only bank you'll ever need!

  3. I am married.

  4. I am the youngest in my family - 2 older sisters - 1 older brother.

  5. I only have one eye.

  6. I am diabetic....but I don't have to take insulin! WOOOOOHOOOOO!!!!

  7. I LOVE to read.

  8. I have a "bug"...Baby Girl is 1/2 Boston Terrier 1/2 Pug. I also have a grand-dog named Oreo.

  9. I love disco! "Shake Yo Groove Thang" is my favorite...oh wait...maybe Stayin' Alive is my favorite...oh wait..."Sexual Healing" is my favorite song....you get the idea!

  10. I am very shy, intoverted, and a very quite person. HAHAH! NOT!

Now....I tag everyone that reads this!

GRANDFRIENDS

I am SO very blessed to have so many little grandfriends in my life....and their parents are so special to share them with me.
I posted a blog in January with a "few" of my little friends and the links to their pages. I then realized that some of them don't have their own pages, so I thought I would add their pictures, and a little about them here.

First, my little Abby. She has been in my heart since she was in her Mommy's tummy. For some reason, I KNEW she was going to be so very special to me....and boy, is she ever!
She is a 6 year old first grader that has more wisdom than some adults. We have very interesting conversations about everything.
She lets me have the chance to do "girly" things. Her parents (Patrick and Kari Ann) let her spend the night with me sometimes and what fun that is! She introduced me to "High School Musical" and "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody". She loves to have her nails painted too.
Abby is very honest...and will tell me what she thinks about everything. She's told her Mommy that, because I'm older, I've known her longer than she has.
It was hard for me to pick out only one picture that I love of Abby and I - so I picked 2!

She was only 2 in this picture...it definitely captures her personality.

This was taken at her Kiddie Kollege graduation....how prissy is this?

Next, is my little grandfriend Payden. He's 1 1/2 and has the sweetest personality. Payden's Mom, Kimberly, is the one who came up with the nickname, Grand-Molly, for him to call me. (Of course I love it if they call me ANYTHING!)
Payden's favorite word right now is NO. But, with those precious blue eyes of his, it's ok.
Payden has been having seizures since he was a tiny baby....you never know when he's going to have one, but he pops right back to being a typical little boy.
He has a crooked little smile....well, you just have to see it to appreciate it!
Once again...couldn't pick my favorite, so here's 2...
This was taken last summer at Gibson's b'day party....it was so hot!

This was taken in December.....what a cheesy little boy!

Next, there's my little Ridge. His Mommy and Daddy really prayed hard for him....and did they ever get a bonus. He is such a sweetheart! He has a smile that will melt your heart. He makes me feel so good when he busts out that big ol' grin! His Mommy (Amy) is the most precious Christian you'd ever want to meet. He has a cousin, Chloe, she calls herself the "Sister Cousin". (How cute is that?)

In this picture, he just looks like he's saying "Hi there"!

Then, there's the serious little Ridge....he can see right through you with this look.

I'm Halfway There!

On my lunch HOUR today I applied for my passport. Actually I went to CVS and got my picture made....argued with the lady taking the picture....went to the County Clerk's office to get my "certified" birth certificate....then went to the District Clerk's office and applied for the passport!.....and STILL had time to go to the Sonic!
Now my questions.....Why won't they let you smile in these pictures? Do you see me often and I'm not smiling? Don't they want these pictures to be realistic? (And....am I mistaken, or does this look like a mug shot?) I look like a really ticked off heifer, don't I?
Then.......why on earth would they tell me to take off my glasses? Have you ever seen me without my glasses on????? NO! And I told the lady so! She said that the flash would glare on my glasses. I told her that I could duck my head some, so that wouldn't happen! (I get rid of my double chin and then have to MAKE one for a stinkin' picture!)
They asked for my Mommy's full name.....Is it Louise Margariet or is it Margariet Louise? I actually couldn't tell them....that's not what I call her....her name is MOMMY!
Ok....I'm off my soapbox!
I'M HALFWAY TO CANCUN NOW..............WoooooooHOOOOOO! Only 3 months and 2 days to go!

Mommy's B'day

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOMMY
My Mommy turned 87 on Wednesday. My sisters, nieces and I had a "picnic" in her room at the nursing home on Tuesday night. Mommy has Alzheimer's and she is quite entertaining at times.
How many 87 yr olds do you know that still love to have BRIGHT RED fingernail polish on? Mommy does! Usually 87 yr olds are quite, reserved, sit back and watch it all happen....not Mommy....she is quite the party girl. And, it's all about her! How many 87 yr olds do you know that still love a good ol' hamburger? She's the junk food queen....oh wait....I forgot....she just THE QUEEN!
Life is so short and we never know how long we have with our loved ones.
Be sure to hug your family and let them know that you love them!

4 Generations
The Queen Mother is front and center.
My sister Martha is in the middle, her daughter Melody is on the left
and her granddaughter Natalie is on the right.

Here's the Queen with her 3 daughters
Martha (the oldest) on the left,
Molly Melinda (the baby) in the middle,
and Mary (the center) on the right.

I've Learned.........

50 Things I've Learned By Being A Bank Teller
  1. I know everyone in the world, so I never need to ask for an ID.

  2. I'll be with you in one moment," means "come right up here into my business and breathe your popcorn breath in my face for a while."

  3. Every bank in the world steals money from its customers, particularly the ones that don't keep a register.

  4. I'm always kidding when I tell people a check is not any good. I'm a good kidder.

  5. I know every balance of every account at the bank.

  6. I am at the bank just because I feel like it; my window isn't actually open when I say "May I help you?"

  7. I know everyone's account number.

  8. I know everyone's address.

  9. I don't understand how banking works.

  10. I have to do whatever the person who gave my customer the check said.

  11. I don't know how to count.

  12. I don't know how to add.

  13. I don't know what the date is.

  14. I can read everyone's mind.

  15. If I ask for your social, I'm trying to steal your identity.

  16. I know when every new coin will be arriving.

  17. I know how much everyones bills are for the month.

  18. We don't sell stamps.

  19. We are just here for fun on most holidays, we're not really open. We love when you rub it in.

  20. When someone asks how your want your cash back, you are supposed to tell them after you get your money back.

  21. Apparently people have different definitions of commercial.

  22. Your time is more important than mine. I have no life. When you show up 5 minutes before we close to make 10 deposits or open a new account, we don't mind.

  23. Everyone at the the bank is related.

  24. I am also your secretary.

  25. We love to place hold on your checks for fun, we are the only bank that does it.

  26. 13 hours and 10 minutes is not enough time for people to do their business.

  27. I am in charge of the never ending popcorn, smarties and coffee.

  28. It is polite ot ignore someone when they say hello.

  29. It is my fault when someone cuts you in line. I should have been paying attention to you and not your money.

  30. I know what a "checkingdepositwithdrawal" for savings is.

  31. Being rude should make me want to help you more.

  32. I am not really human, I should not make mistakes.

  33. It is okay to go into someone's office when their door is shut.

  34. I have a secret collection of licenses in my drawer.

  35. I can't hear. I need you to ding the bell 5 times in a row.

  36. The sign that says "Next Window Please" is just for decoration.

  37. I make people wait on purpose, it's fun to make them mad.

  38. I know everyones PIN number to their ATM card.

  39. The coin machine is my favorite thing to do.

  40. The bank gives out free poinsettas at Christmas, we order them for you, not the bank. "Display Only Means" whatever you want it to mean.

  41. "Please and Thank you" are forbidden wrods at the bank. We hate to hear them.

  42. Checking and Savings deposit slips are EXACTLY the same, we just like the color pink and wanted to make them more colorful. Marking through the word SAVINGS changes the deposit slip completely!

  43. When I tell someone the same thing over and over, I'm just doing it for fun. I like to waste my breath.

  44. We will break the rules for anybody as long as you gripe for more than 10 minutes.

  45. I am a professional coin counter. Even when the machine is broken, I will count the coin for you by hand.

  46. I am psychic; when you call I can recognize your voice and pull up your information. My computer is voice activated. Its that fancy technology we have.

  47. You don't have to tell me that you've been with the bank for 50 years...I can tell.

  48. Even after 5 years, I am a new teller to anyone who has never seen me before. If I've never met you, I have no idea what I'm doing.

  49. I make the rules for the banking industry. You can blame everything on me!

  50. I am an idiot.

.....these next few I added myself.

  1. Yes, I know who your Mom/Dad/husband/wife is, and NO you can't sign their name.

  2. Yes, I do have a deposit slip.

  3. If I've asked you to fill out a form and sign it...that doesn't mean you send it back in with a blank look on your face.

  4. No, we have no idea when construction on the bank will be finished.

  5. Yes, I know who the president of the bank is and NO I will not give you his cell/home phone number.

  6. Yes, we're open.

  7. No, I can't read your mind.

Today I Am Sad

Today, I am sad.

My sweet friend Carol Kay is leaving First Federal to go to a new job.

Don't get me wrong...I am so happy and PROUD for her...but I'm sad.

She's been my best bud...my voice of reason...my baby girl...my sister...my sounding board...my confident...my FRIEND.

I am gonna miss her so much...for lots of reasons. She's got the bubbliest (is that a word?) personality...the most precious smile...this positive outlook on life, that makes you feel that EVERYTHING will be ok...the heart of an angel...an organizer of all things good...a sweet wife...a Christian. I could keep going on... and on....and on...OHHHHHH wait...did I mention the most precious little girl that you'd ever want to meet? This picture of her and Cadie absolutely melts my heart! Cadie is such a blessed little girl to have Carol Kay for a Mommy. If you can't tell from this picture, these 2 girls love each other so much. Carol Kay is a Mom that every child deserves...Carol Kay has allowed me to be a part of her family. (She even let me name sweet little Cadie!) I've been there for the baby showers...the delivery...the birthdays...the family dinners...the parties...the sadness of losing her Mom.... She shares these things because she thinks of me as part of her family. How VERY blessed am I?

And tomorrow she moves on to the American Red Cross.

God bless you my friend...I'm gonna miss you girl!

Just Some Friday Stuff

It's been a whole week since I blogged...did you miss me?

Did I tell you I was off last Monday? haha!

Larry's coming to see me this weekend! WoooHOOOO! I haven't seen him in about a month, so it's going to be good to visit with him.

Another sad week here in Paris this week. A 17 year old boy was killed in a one vehicle accident. His dad was one of the pall-bearers at Bill's funeral last Tuesday...and then this Tuesday, his son died. Too sad. Please EVERYONE, be careful!

There are so many people sick right now...my Larry is one of them. He's been sent home 3 days in a row. OK people, if you have fever - STAY HOME! I'm just "the mother" and I don't know too much, do I? This flu bug is awful and will knock you down!

I'm going to Royce City, with Peggy, tonight for Ellie's play-off game.....go Pantherettes!

Have a great weekend!

Heart Broken

My heart is broken tonight....my friend Bill Robinson died very suddenly this afternoon. He was married to my best friend Peggy. He was hooking up the camper to his truck....doing what he loved....and had a heart attack.
And yes, you are correct, he does look like Charlie Daniels!
Goodbye to my fishin' buddy!
